Tsunami Surfing is meant to be original stuff. You have enough blogs, pics, podcasts, and whatever else arrives in your inbox, you don’t need me to send you my favorite rabbit hole treasure finds. But below you will discover two items that provide much needed clarity and perspective.
My self-talk squawks, “Read books, not blogs.” Generally speaking, if I am going to write blogs of original content, simply sampling a dozen blogs and piecing them together on this Substack site doesn’t help any of us. But I do subscribe to a few bloggers who seem worth my time.
Abigail Shrier, author of the groundbreaking book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, is still leading the charge against the insanity which is leaving kids confused and physically harmed. (To see my articles related to her book, click here, here, and here.)
Many of us sense that perhaps the pendulum has already begun to swing back toward normalcy. But no one has her finger on the pulse like Shrier. In this article from her blog “The Truth Fairy,” she describes a talk she recently gave in Israel where a trans zealot lunged at her only to be stopped by security guards. She goes on to give many reasons to believe this pendulum is stuck, if not swinging further to the left.
Love and Truth Network Podcast
I’ve been asked by my colleagues Debra Baty and Garry Ingraham to begin doing podcasts with them for Transforming Congregations. I gladly agreed, but warned them that I rarely watch podcasts, let alone produce them!
So I thought maybe I should watch some of Garry’s podcasts featured on his website for Love and Truth Network. Wow! I was very impressed with his guests, the content, and the ease with which Garry engages each person.
Last night I watched his talk with Joe Dallas.
Both of them grew up in Christian homes but had battled same-sex attraction. They compared notes not only on past experiences of shame within the local church, but incredible insights on the current controversies facing the Church.
Take note of what they say about identity. Very insightful. Especially regarding Christians who are identifying themselves as celibate gay Christians. This is a fairly recent trend among evangelicals.
I think we all experience issue fatigue on certain subjects. With Trans ideology capturing the headlines, many are putting the matter of same-sex attraction and marriage on the back burner. It is easier to simply “agree to disagree” on matters of labeling our identity. But when you hear these two godly men, who once were immersed in the gay community, explain their perspective, it not only highlights the importance of how we identify ourselves, but adds insight on the trans issues that are plaguing us.
Yep, I’ll get my nose back into the books and write something a bit deeper next time. But please take a look at these resources. And Tsunami Supporters, please leave comments if you sample the above links.
Just listened to the Gary Ingraham and Joe Dallas podcast. They both said many things about our identity that is a trap many Christians fall into regarding identifying with our sinful nature. There were so many thought provoking comments from Joe Dallas. To pick a few that were impactful in his journey. He asked himself the question, "Am I in God's will? And does it matter?" Such an important follow up question is so often missed. We need to be honest with ourselves about whether or not it matters. He also said, "My rebellion opened the door to my deception." Such a good word for us rebels by nature. I have spent a lot time justifying my rebellion and it certainly was and is deception! It is great to put that label on it. He also spent time talking about what it looks like to be healed from sexual sins and what he said was something I think we as Christians and the church need to fully understand, "Jesus said, "Follow me". It is not for us to say where God is going to lead them" We don't know what any person's healing journey is going to look like. I pray we will be gentle with each other as we walk the road toward Jesus. This podcast was so very good and has given me a lot to think about, but mostly it is very encouraging to hear these men share their own journeys and what the Lord has given them in wisdom and knowledge to build up the church. Thank you for sharing this Mark!
Always great stuff my friend!
