“Why don’t you have a podcast?” That’s a question I hear a lot.
In addition to being techno averse, I simply enjoy writing. I’m largely an introvert and a perfectionist, less quick on my feet and more prone to ponder. So I stay holed up in my study, toil over word choices, and send it out when it seems just right.
Personally I’m not much into listening to podcasts either. Unless the topic is of great interest, I rarely imbibe, much less watch two talking heads on a palm-sized screen.
But I am about to take one giant leap into the 2010’s. Just this week I learned how very easy it is to simply add a voiceover to this blog. So after proofreading and carefully pruning each article, I can simply read it out loud into my mic and poof! It’s done.
No doubt you’ve already noticed the play button on this post. Just click it, sit back, and my dry sarcasm and quirky sense of humor will float your way with a bit of a nasally tone. And I’ll likely be adding a little commentary long the way as well.
Equipping Update
God has indeed given me much to ponder, of late. Very clearly, he wants me to ramp up the training for people who desire to surf the Sexual Tsunami. But I’ve taken a bit of a detour from launching the online academy in order to benefit those using my book Pure Hearted: Banding Together for Sexual Wholeness. Each of its 13 lessons describe a prayer key to help participants unlock issues related to addiction to porn. But simply reading how to do the prayer can seem inadequate for some.
So I’ve just completed 13 videos to demonstrate each of the keys. After being edited, they will be placed on a YouTube channel for those using the book.
Yep, Tsunami Surfing Academy will eventually host teachings on prayer keys. More than simply demonstrations, however, the teachings will include biblical and theological backdrops and greater instruction. For a pastor or counselor who is already involved in ministry to the sexually broken, the additional teaching will be invaluable.
We’ve had a few setbacks on launching the academy. Projects like this always take longer than I imagine. Even though I’ve taught much of this material in one fashion or another, it simply isn’t gelling quite yet. Additionally, those helping me have had some major setbacks as well.
As per usual, I want to make things happen NOW. God smiles, and hopefully I ponder a bit more. But he is always faithful.
Post Seminar Ponderings
As you may remember, I had the privilege of doing a seminar locally with co-presenter Carl Trueman. Soon I’ll post a few articles revisiting the issues of transgender ideology and how best to minister, including the ever persistent matter of preferred pronouns and new names.
So by now you may have listened to me read my own stuff today. But after a bit of your own pondering, don’t forget to leave comments!
It sounds like you're staying busy in your "retirement". That's good, though. It's good to be occupied. Blessings.
"It is required of a steward to be found faithful." Hmmm. All other predicate adjectives are discounted!!! What does faithfulness often look/feel like. Well, many times, many seasons, many years, for me, it meant just "putting ONE FOOT ahead of THE OTHER. Uffff! That's all? Yup! I used to demonstrate this to other folks by reaching down, grabbing one leg with both hands and lifting it up and forward and then back down. And then other other leg, etc. etc. Painstaking plodding! Day after day. That is NOT defeatist, NO WAY! THAT is gut floor-level faithfulness, and NOTHING can resist that kind of persistent, insistent faithfulness!!!! Plod onward and upward, dear brother Mark. You are ON THE RIGHT PATH. Don't look back!
