I've said before that children should not be getting gender affirming surgeries because it is such a permanent thing. That is not to say that adults can't choose that option if they want to. So, if the law is calling for children to be able to get surgery without their parents' consent, then I would be against that, simply on the basis of the fact that kids don't have a fully developed pre-frontal lobe of their brain until their early 20s. I wouldn't be against a child choosing a different hairstyle or clothes, but those are things that are not permanent.
